Another year is underway, and Crone’s Creatures Greyhound Adoptions is busy finding great homes for retired greyhounds. Because we use a foster home program instead of having all our available greyhounds in one kennel location, we cannot offer a place for potential adopters to come and view them except for a Meet and Greets. This is why our Meet and Greet events are so important. We encourage all potential adopters to come to a Meet and Greet to meet the greyhounds and to meet current greyhound owners who can help answer questions about what living with a greyhound is like.
If you are interested in adopting a greyhound but cannot get to a Meet and Greet, please contact Miss Kay, and she will arrange to bring a couple of greyhounds to your home to meet you Once the application process has been completed, and your references have been checked out, the greyhound you have chosen will be ready to move in with you.
Once the adoption process has been completed, CCGA does not just fade away into the woodwork. We want to stay in contact with you and be there to offer support and further training should you need it. We are also interested in having you join us for group picnics and play dates with your greyhound to help socialize your greyhound and provide you with an opportunity to share your greyhound’s story with others.
Often we get offers to volunteer from folks who are interested in learning more about greyhounds and who want to help dogs who have been discarded because they are no longer profitable to their owners. Again, because of the foster home program, we don’t really have much in the way of physical labor for volunteers to do. We can always use help at the Meet and Greets or help in transporting dogs from the track to foster homes, to the vet and back, and/or from the track and to other groups in other states. If you are willing to do some driving, and don’t mind using your own vehicle to transport dogs in, please call Miss Kay and offer to help. If you want to help with a Meet and Greet, please check the calendar on this website, and just show up to help. If you have space and would like to foster, by all means, let us know! Fostering is the #1 way you can help CCGA the most. We are always in need of foster homes, and respite foster homes (Respite homes take the fosters for a few days or weeks at a time, to give our regular foster homes a break).
If you can’t help by transporting or by manning the table at a Meet and Greet, please take a look at our ‘wish list’ page. We are always in need of clean blankets and dog beds, as well as food bowls and other items. Bringing us a bag or two of dog food is always helpful, as are monetary contributions that go to pay the vet bills and buy the ink cartridges for our printers. To make the donations easier, we have added a Donations button that allows you to send CCGA money via Paypal. You will find the button on this page, as well as on our Wish List Page and on the Happy Tails page.
CCGA wants to thank all our volunteers and all our friends who support CCGA in so many ways. Without your help and guidance, our mission would have failed long ago.
